MP Morland Wilson Replies To Claims That Drains Not Cleaned

MP Morland Wilson

MP Moreland Wilson has emphatically denied rumours claiming that drains have not been cleaned in his constituency. In his press release, the MP did not identify the persons making the claims. I have received a link to a speech by the PNP Caretaker for Western Westmoreland Ian Hayles calling for cleaning drains.

JLP Councillor Dies

Councillor for the Olympic Gardens Division in West Central, St. Andrew, Christopher Townsend died tragically last night due to what is believed to be natural causes.

Massive Flooding in Grenada - Over 12 Hours Of Rainfall

On Tuesday, November 12, there was rain for about 12 hours in Grenada and widespread flooding, my On The Ground Reporter says. There has been one report of a death. It is not confirmed if the death is related to the flooding.

JLP Process for Selecting Candidate in Manchester Heating Up!

Hidran McKulsky
MP Audley Shaw who has served the people of North East Manchester for a long time is about to step down from representational politics. There is strong campaigning taking place for Councillor Miller to replace Mr. Shaw, but many others are pushing from Holmwood Technical High School Principal Mr Hidran McKulsky. People see McKulsky as a big ticket for the JLP who would be able to handle a top post with a JLP win.

Cars Being Stolen at UHWI

The following report was received from a supporter:
"They have stolen cars at UHWI, especially when it rains and the Security leaves the gate open while sheltering. You may know they broke ground for the NEW hospital building and so the original parking spaces have disappeared, indefinitely."

Mayor Andrew Swaby Meets with Vendors in Halfway Tree

Mayor Andrew Swaby

I just received information that the Mayor of Kingston and St. Andrew met with vendors in the Mandela Park in Kingston this afternoon. Let's hope that when the council decides to act those who did not turn up to the meeting said they did not know.

The last time I visited the Constant Spring Arcade I saw a few empty stalls there. Some vendors could be placed there. The council should get a plot of land and build a multistory building for the vendors.

Let's work with Mayor Swaby and all the councillors and make the city of Kingston become the deserving capital of the nation. Thanks to my On The Ground Reporter who sent me the video of the area in Mandela Park where the meeting was held. Let us look forward to Mayor Swaby's presentation of a beautiful capital called Kingston for Christmas, the most beautiful city in the Caribbean.

Businessman Killed in May Pen

The town of May Pen is in the spotlight again. Businessman Delroy Azan was killed this afternoon, a Bark Di Trute supporter reports. I have tried unsuccessfully to get information from the police. The numbers listed on the Internet and also given by the responder at 911, are not working.

Steven Shaw Is looking Tired and Bored These Days

The roads are in a terrible state. This has been the situation for a long time. Many roads are poorly constructed, poorly maintained and there is a lack of accountability in the construction and maintenance of our roads. We need to decentralise the maintenance of our roads.

Stephen is looking tired and worn out these days. He must be tired of giving the people arguments and excuses when we need better-constructed, and better-maintained roads.

His skills could be better utilized in a court of law where judges listen to arguments.

Price Mart Changed Directions of the Escalators

I went to Price Mart recently and I noticed that they changed the directions of the escalators. The changes impacted some customers negatively.

I spoke to a member of the management team who directed me to someone else. I told him I had already told him what the problem was and that he should discuss it with the rest of the management team. I told him that if I came back and did not see the signs, he would regret the day he was born.

The picture below shows that the member of the management team did not have to regret the day he was born.

I subsequently purchased goods and was at the cashier. A gentleman came close to me and started placing his things on the counter. I told him that I did not want another customer close to me while I was doing business with the cashier. The cashier insisted that it was OK. I made it clear that I had excellent reasons for not wanting another customer beside me. She started to argue with me and I had to make it clear that it could not happen. The smart customer just stepped back because he realized that I was just about to walk away. I have already stated in a previous blog why another customer should not be close to you at the cashier.

Customers Should Not Pay Penalty for Overdue Bills

Can someone tell me who gave the utility companies the right to charge penalties for late payment of bills? My Digicel App was not working last night and therefore I was unable to pay the bill. By the next day, I got a message indicating that I was fined JAD500 dollars. Can you imagine the thousands of customers who had the same challenge and had to pay JAD500?

I need to go into that business. OUR must stop the collection of a reconnection fee also. Gone are the days when a truck with workers had to come to our houses to disconnect electricity. Consumers must start fighting back. We are all fast asleep!

Stella Maris Business Office in St. Andrew Robbed

I received information that two gunmen went onto the premises of the Stella Maris Business Office today at about 1330 EST in St. Andrew. They robbed the business offices of funds. No one was hurt and I understand the two robbers escaped in a car.

We are approaching Christmas and criminals become very active during this period. The Jamaica Constabulary Force and the Ministry of National Security should start a sensitization programme so that people can better understand how to with crime and criminals.

Jamaica needs to get its National Identity System operational soon. This would go a long way in helping us to track and identify criminals.

Citizens have to be very creative in dealing with these criminals.  Some years ago I used my acting skills to escape the hands of these worthless animals. In the middle of being accosted by the thugs, I developed a severe heart attack. My neighbours picked up that something was wrong and called the police. This happened during Christmas!

Last week they tried stealing a car in the neighbourhood and the yelling of persons nearby scared the robbers away.

The criminals tend to also get very active during the rainy season, especially at night when they target the cars.

Transport Authority Broke Speed Limit - Now Dealing With Warring Drivers!

When citizens unite and work together we can make a major difference. The work and the information supplied by citizens have resulted in the Transport Authority being able to deal with the matter involving two warring transport operators.

Thanks to those persons who ensured that Bark Di Trute got the information. Thanks to those who took pictures of the incident. Moving at top speed, the transport authority has started to deal with the matter. That driver should never ever be allowed to transport not even pigs and goats again.

Keep building Bark Di Trute we not only Bark we Bite!

Weather Update

Press Release From The Meteorological Office 20241113 0900 EST:

The Tropical Wave that has been impacting weather conditions across Jamaica since yesterday afternoon has now merged with the broad area of Low Pressure south of Jamaica. This system is expected to continue influencing weather across the island through to the weekend.

Satellite imagery indicates a large but gradually organising area of showers and thunderstorms across the central and southwestern Caribbean Sea. This system is progressing slowly westward and has a high chance of Tropical Depression development within the next 48 hours, in the vicinity of Jamaica.

Regardless of the stage of development, the area of Low Pressure is expected to bring continued and increased rainfall to Jamaica through to at least Sunday afternoon. Consequently, the forecast is for cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, to affect sections of all parishes, especially southern parishes during this period.

Fishers on the cays and banks, especially those inshore and offshore the south coast, are urged to exercise extreme caution as sea conditions will continue to deteriorate in the vicinity of showers and thunderstorms.

The Meteorological Service will continue to closely monitor this system as there is a 90% chance of Tropical Cyclone development over the next 48 hours.

Letter To The Honourable Prime Minister

Letter to the Prime Minister

The Most Honourable Dr Andrew Holness,

Mr Prime Minister, I commend you for the work that you and your cabinet have been doing. Your government has achieved significant milestones in maintaining a stable economy, improving our infrastructure and the debt to GDP ratio. Few understand that this will eventually create a stable economy benefitting all of us. Mark my word, Mr PM, that alone itself will not ensure your government will be seated on the winning side in parliament after the next elections.

There is a need for love and care for one another. The crude behaviour at home in our schools and in society is depressing the whole nation. There is little respect for the elderly and for law and order.

Public servants should start to serve the people like they have never served before. All these public servants must held accountable to the people and be able to speak directly to the people. If they fail then let them pack their bags and go.

Let leaders set the tone for a better society. Set the ideals, set the examples, and put in place a system which encourages better values and attitudes. Don't get preoccupied with people labelling politicians as corrupt because we the people are no better. Lead the way so that corruption and crime can be a thing of the past.

Some people reading this will jump on me and say I am fighting down the leaders. My response is inept leaders do not need my help to fight them down. My criticism is meant to improve things for our country and for all of us. Yes, we have changed parties periodically and now is the time to change our country and our people.

All our leaders must start to show love to one another and to the people who they seek to serve. They must respect the people and allow the technocrats to share information with the people. Too often we hear of technocrats who cannot share information with the public because they did not get authority from someone high up.

I hope that you have time to read my letter Mr PM and I will send another letter to the leader of the Opposition also. You can start the change by ensuring that the public servants deal with the case in the video below. We are happy for the new buses but the behaviour of many transport operators on the road smells like cabbage left to rot in the field for a long time.

Citizen working for a better Jamaica,

Vernon L. Derby
