A Solution To Assist Those of US Who Cannot Afford JPSCo Electricity

Indoor solar lights

Solar refrigerator

There is a need to step up the use of solar energy to reduce the cost of electricity to Jamaicans. It would also reduce the need to steal JPS electricity. This is something that the government is already looking at but there is a need to move quickly on this one. This would have a major positive impact on the cost of living. This could improve your chances of a third-term PM. If you wait too long, then the PNP could run with it!

This project should involve the distribution of solar lights and refrigerators to all those householders who are unable to afford JPSCo electricity.

I am making a public request for support from Mr. Lee Chin. Mr. Chin, can you look into the possibility of your company leading in this matter and working with the government to get essential solar equipment to those who are in need? A little birdie told me that you have contacts in Japan, where solar electrical appliances are available. We could even have a project to ensure that we donate solar flashlights to our children. These could be very useful during and after a hurricane or an earthquake.

Inferno Kills Three Children!

Three young lives were lost in that inferno in St. Ann, and all we are going to get is cow bawling and talking about how these kids were nice.

Those left behind will make statements that will evoke sympathy from the rest of us.

Children cannot protect themselves. Their parents, other adults, the community, and the state should be there to protect them.

The fire brigade and the police must leave no stone unturned until it is ascertained how these children met their demise. The parents must be interrogated, and the adults who were at home with the children must be questioned.

Was the fire caused by the stealing of electricity, the children playing with things that can create a fire, a burning candle, an overturned lamp or was the house set on fire? Those who failed to protect the children should pay dearly for their failure to do so. Too much of this fire thing now man.

I am very upset about this matter. I am in bed with the bad flu while using my phone to make this post.

Jamaica please...please show you care for these children. Share this post with at least ten persons and ask them to add their comments. Let the nation know that we have to do better. Many share the gossip and the sus. I hope we will find enough people to share this post. Thanks,, my friend.

CPFSA and the MOESYI Issue Statement About Three Children Killed in Fire in St. Ann

Press Release from the MOESYI and the CPFSA - 20240112:

Minister Dana Morris Dixon

Laurette Adams-Thomas JP

CPFSA and MOESYI Urge Greater Vigilance for Children’s Safety and Fire Preparedness Following Recent House Fire Tragedies

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) and the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information (MOESYI) are appealing to parents and guardians to prioritise vigilance in safeguarding children and to adopt fire safety measures at home. This call follows a series of devastating house fires that have claimed the lives of children in recent days.

The most recent incident occurred at 2:24 a.m. today in Walkerswood, St. Ann, where three children—a boy and two girls—tragically lost their lives in a fire that consumed their home.

Minister of Education, Skills, Youth and Information, Senator Dr Dana Morris Dixon, expressed profound sorrow at the tragic incident:

“The heartbreaking loss of these young lives is deeply distressing and serves as a painful reminder of the vulnerabilities children face in cases of emergency. CPFSA first responders are already en route to the scene of the incident to assess the situation. They will provide on-spot grief counselling for the surviving family members, identify any other children who may now require care, and offer support such as food, clothing, and assistance in replacing essential documents. Our focus now is to ensure that these families have access to the resources they need to begin rebuilding their lives after this devastating loss.”

“A team from the Ministry will visit the children’s schools tomorrow, Monday, to offer counselling and emotional support to classmates, teachers, and other members of the school community as they grapple with this tragedy.” Dr. Morris Dixon added.

In another incident on Wednesday, January 8, a five-year-old girl perished in a house fire in Whitehall, Kingston, while under the care of an elderly relative.

CPFSA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Laurette Adams-Thomas says that the Agency made a swift response to that incident:

“Our team quickly provided support to the grieving family, referring the child’s mother and surviving sibling to the Ministry of Justice’s Victim Services Division (VSD) for trauma counselling. We also referred the family to Food for the Poor to supply them with emergency provisions such as food and care items. These tragedies are unimaginable losses that no family should have to endure.”

The CEO further issued an urgent appeal to parents and guardians, while emphasizing the importance of fire safety practices in the home:

“We implore you to be extra vigilant in the care of your children. Never leave them unsupervised or in situations where their safety may be at risk, especially at home. Always ensure that your children are in the care of responsible adults who can protect them and act quickly in emergencies.” “It is crucial that parents create and implement a home fire safety plan, and then rehearse it with their children. Everyone in the home, especially children, should understand what to do in case of a fire. Teach them to recognise the smell of smoke, to call for help, and to head for the nearest exit. Fires often spread rapidly and can overwhelm even adults. By preparing ahead, we can help reduce the likelihood of these devastating events in future.”

KSAMC Deputy Mayor - Major Difference in Circumstances Concerning Estatebridge & JACDEN’s As Built Applications

Press Release from Deputy KSAMC Mayor, Delroy Williams - 20250109:

Deputy KSAMC Mayor, Delroy Williams

Deputy Mayor of Kingston and Minority Caucus Leader in the Kingston and St. Andrew  Municipal Corporation, Delroy Williams, has taken note of a statement issued by Mayor Andrew Swaby and the leadership of the Corporation concerning the approval by the Building Committee on Wednesday of 'As Built' applications made by Estatebridge Limited and JACDEN Limited.

Deputy Mayor Williams wishes to bring clarity and highlight the following facts.

  1. The statement from Mayor Swaby and the KSAMC Leadership failed to note that in the case of Estatebridge, the company had a permit and applied for approval of minor variations. This is a normal procedure concerning any construction of note.
  2. Concerning JACDEN, the entity did not have a permit for the building which was erected. JACDEN had applied for a permit to build a two storey commercial building. However, a permit was not approved.
  3. JACDEN proceeded to build a structure which exceeded the number of storeys particularised in their initial application. JACDEN then applied for regularisation. Prior to the building being regularized on Wednesday, the structure would have been contemplated in law as an illegal building.
  4. For the avoidance of any ambiguity, Estatebridge had a lawful permit and applied for regularisation of minor variations. In the case of JACDEN, a building was constructed without a permit and was subsequently regularised.

The above are the facts concerning the issues.

Deputy Mayor Williams says it would be good if statements issued by Mayor Swaby and the leadership of the KSAMC are characterized by greater clarity.

Breaking News - Earthquake West of Jamaica?

I just received a report of a 4.76-magnitude earthquake on January 10, 2025, at 22:18 hours.

Location: 18.080°N 78.779°W

Depth: 118.3 km.

I have not seen any official report from the earthquake unit, or ODPEM. Persons in the west of the island might have felt it and seen things in their houses shaking. If you felt it, add your comments to this blog and give the area where you felt it and the time. Thanks.

Do we have a national earthquake and tsunami warning system in place in Jamaica?

This vehicle was behind and honking his horn persistenly but I did not relent

When the traffic cleared I proceeded left on Oxford road

This same vehicle came around and I had to swerve away as he purposely tried to bank me.

If that was bad he the ran the red light at the intersection of oxford  and Old hope road going on to Tom Redcam.
