What is Wrong With A Politician Giving Bun!!!

Want a Bun?

There have been plenty excitement about a JLP politician a gi bun. Previously it was only some women who gave men bun. Now we hear about a JLP MP giving bun. Yes bun as in the bun which you eat. Politicians have always given gifts to the people but a politician
Robert Chin, MP

giving bun strikes a special note.

Some claim that the political parties have a right like any other organization to promote the party that they are a member of, and political leaders have a right to promote themselves as party representatives. Some disagree with this notion. It is my believe that because politics has a lot of baggage and when you say politics, politics is linked to some nasty activities. Anything done in the name of politics is believe to be wrong even if what was done was good. Just the word politics connotes corruption, crime, nepotism and abuse of power.

The fact is, this is a democratic society and nothing should be done to prevent the promotion of democratic activities. The promotion of party colours, party logos and party personalities is all a part of the democratic process. Political activities is part and parcel of a democratic society.

The problem is that if one should go into politics and do not make empty promises, give handouts, do not support land capturing, nor the stealing of electricity and water, then one certainly would lose their deposit as a candidate in an election.

It is clear to me that the people always get what they want. What we need especially in Jamaica is for the mind set of the people to change. We cannot change a country by just changing the leaders when the people are not supportive of that change.

Politics and politicians are important to the democratic process. One has to compete for political office and therefore one has to promote oneself and ones party. There is an outcry when party workers get a bun, but when the big shots get big deals the silence is deafening. In the meantime I have no problem with political persons branding buns given to their constituents bought with money from their pocket. However, I do have problem when tax payers funds are used to make the life of the rich even richer in terms of big contracts which are not properly executed.

Any one for a bun...no? What you want a big contract?
