With a voice that is deep, rich and strong, she is a Singer who commands the attention of any audience. McKada is a Jamaica Singer who wrote her first song at age 9 and recorded her first single 'crucified' at age 17. She did a number of unreleased songs before being fully launched as an artist with the single '20 Gran Bill' in 2017. Murals In Kingston Get International Attention

Many of you will know by this that I got bitten by the work done by those artists who painted the murals on the buildings, in Downtown, Kingston. It was also revealed this morning that an international news agency called Reuters has also recognized the project. It is possible that other countries might emulate this project. This morning I had a short but great conversation with Andrea Dempster-Chung, the Executive Director of Kingston Creative.

It is good to know that at a time like this when many negative things are being published internationally about third world countries and specifically Jamaica this is good news coming out of the country. Read what Reuters has to say.

The organization, Kingston Creative now needs more support to continue its work. They can be contacted if you want to assist them by going to this website -  www.kingstoncreative.org/donate

Immigration Matters

Many Jamaicans continue to seek information about immigration matters. There are somethings we should bear in mind which includes speaking with a professional person if you need advice about travelling overseas. You can also call my radio show and you can actually speak to the consular officers from the US Embassy.. Getting incorrect information can get you into serious problems

There are agents out there who pretend to be experts and who are willing to give you information about visiting other countries. Wrong information can land you in big challenges. You could end up not being able to visit certain countryesl

Agencies Offering Job Opportunities

If an agent is getting a job for you overseas, it is very important that you first check with the Ministry of Labour and Social Security to see if that agency is one that is recognized by the Ministry. If the agency requires money from you, then that should raise a red flag.

Many persons have children which do not belong to them and they want to take those children overseas or they want to take them to the embassy to get a visas. Remember that unless you have legally adopted the child or you have been legally given custody of the child, that do not have any legal authority to do certain things for the child.

Services Offered By The Embassy

If you are an American citizen and you live in another country you can access the services of the embassy located in the country to get a new passport or to apply for a renewal of your passport. The Embassy, or the High Commission in another country provides various services for its citizens. If a US citizen is staying in Jamaica for example, it is important that the United States Embassy is advised that that citizen is in Jamaica. This can make a big difference in getting you out of a country if there is a disaster or a pending one./

DPP Paula Llewelyn Gives Rotarians The Raw Details

At their meeting today, Rotarians must have been shocked when Director of Prosecution gave them some details about the sexual abuse meted out to many of our young children.

She told her audience of a case where the mother heard her baby scream out and on rushing into the room to find out what was the problem, she found her husband with his genitals on the child. The sad thing is that based on what the DP said, the mother moved out of the matrimonial. Nothing was heard of the child again and that was the end of that case. She made it clear that abuses take place at all social levels.

She also told the gathering of a case where the mother of a child used her fingers to assist her boyfriend to penetrate her young daughter.

The stories would upset the stomach of a crocodile. The DPP felt that there needs to be more education. One public personality suggested that these irresponsible parents should not be allowed to have children.

Flooding In Browns Town

I understand there was significant flooding in Browns Town in St. Ann yesterday. Recently many business leaders complained about the selling in the streets. The rains showed why it is important to have a market area for these vendors and equally important, is for them to use it. Many persons lost their goods.

Thanks for these updates. No water on Gibson Road Stony Hill from Hermitage Dam Road down since Tuesday May 25. No updates from NWC yet. Pure misery! What can be done?
