Abu Bakr was a good man in a way he rescued Trinidad from political scum.I never did support him being blocked from entering Jamaica to visit his daughter studying here in Jamaica. That was an asinine decision since Abu Bakr having his children here what threat could he have been to Jamaica. My sincere condolences to his family.I found interesting the saga to establish a credit union in Trinidad based on Islamic principles. In Islam it bus a n offence to lend money at a rate of interest above 0%.The government tried to block it but the court decided in favour of the Bakr Islamic organization. The banking laws were changed to prevent any such good thing from happening again in Trinidad. The Government argued that there must be a rate of interest so the Islamic credit union put forward a rate of interest of 0%.The new law specifies a rate above zero. Can't we havevsome Islamic banks here in Jamaica to drive a deepening and widening of the wealth creation processes in Jamaica.
