Friends & Listeners Invited Me To Puerto Seco Beach

Once again I must say thanks to those persons who have been sending me text messages, WhatsApp messages and emails, thanking me for serving them in the media. For those who might not know, my first stint with the media was at the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation (JBC) when I hosted a youth discussion programme called Youth Rap. I also did commentary weekly on the programme Wisdom Tooth, hosted the Big Youth Horn of Plenty Show on a Friday night, and I also appeared in the radio play, 'Flora Lee'. I  participated in other radio and television programmes which included one which I wrote one Christmas, called Christmus Bucky.

Today was a very special day for me, because some friends of mine and persons who support my work in the media, invited me to their daughter's birthday celebrations at the Puerto Seco Beach. I have not been to that place since I was about nine years old or probably longer. I remember going to the Puerto Seco Beach with students from the Lowe River All Age School in Trelawny when I was a little boy. I remember being allowed as a youngster to make announcements on the public address system which was being used to promote Limacol.

Puerto Seeo Beach is no longer the place where persons can just walk on to and enjoy themselves. You have to pay to enter the property. It is now a business with bars, a cafeteria, and shops where persons can pick up souvenir items.

Accident In Runaway Bay

On my return journey from the Puerto Seco Beach, I saw this overturned truck about two meters on the side of the road. I said to myself that this must be another case of  speeding.  

I am not qualified to give expert opinions on accidents and the conditions of our roads, but I have lived long enough to know when a road needs to be repaired. This stretch of road a few kilometers from Runaway Bay, is as smooth as a newborn baby's skin. The top layer of the road surface was gone and you could see the shiny surface of the stones like little stars twinkling on the slightly wet road. If you are driving at even the speed limit, and you step on those brakes, then expect your vehicle to go careening of the road like someone skiing down a mountain slope and who has lost control.

Humps Should To be Painted with Reflecting Paint

When you are approaching these toll booths on the toll roads, they have these speed bumps before the booths which come up at you like thieves in the night. These ought to be painted with reflective paint which is what they do in civilized countries.

The hump should be painted with reflecting paint.

Breath-taking Scenery On The Highway

While you are on the highway heading to the North Coast, there is no need to speed and miss the breath-taking scenery on either side of the highway.
