Each time I hear a Haitian person saying let the people of Haiti decide for themselves, I see another aspiring politician wanting to use the people of Haiti again. The people of Haiti our brothers and sisters have suffered for too long. The people of the Caribbean and Africa must stand to support the people of Haiti. They deserve our support as our brothers and sisters who were brought to this region in captivity.
Haiti is the first country in the Caribbean to shake off the shackles of slavery I understand, and these people are still enslaved - my God! This country has been raped by other countries and left out in the woodlands for all to come and get their little piece. This includes even their brothers and sisters who are descendants of those who were forcibly brought to this region.
The Haitians have paid a heavy price to be free from enslavement. They are now being enslaved by their own people and abused by others.
The gangs continue to fight for power. I predict they will end up with power over the dust which will remain and the slaughtered bodies which will line the streets.
Those who believe that you can have an election in Haiti today and install a democratically elected government overnight have a very simplistic view of how countries evolved over time. Jamaica became independent in 1962 and even now one wonders how well we have handled our newfound independence.
The solution for Haiti is for a combined force from Caricom countries with support from our friendly neighbours to take control of Haiti. We need to take control of the security of the country and install an executive head and a Provisional Leader from a Caribbean Country.
Throughout say 15 years the institutions could be rebuilt, and emphasis placed on educating the people and preparing them to take back their country.
We cannot allow the situation in Haiti to continue because the impact will be felt in the form of a tsunami of crime and violence across the Caribbean. This could result in a destabilized Caribbean region. The longer we wait, the danger will become greater. Caricom must act now and our people of the region should be encouraged to unite and support our brothers and sisters in this impoverished island.
Please add your comments so our leaders can read them.

ReplyDeleteIts not a coincidence that gangs control Haiti. The gangs are controlled by outside influences. While the peiople fight each other they dont have tine to see how the U. S. Is stripping away their natural mineral deposits by the truckloads!!
ReplyDeleteTell the USA to stop interesting in Haiti, stop stealing their resources, stop the assassinations and the overthrow of duly elected leaders and to stop dumping arms in the country! Also, the USA must repay what they stole and France must pay reparations!

ReplyDeleteAm still wondering why is this situation been drawn out and no peaceful action has taken place. Why is it when US have a hard hand in these types of dangerous and reckless behavior. They are always looking for ways to cause all types of unnecessary problems in other countries around globe and then act like they are peace maker's. US needs To pay Haiti for the hurts and harm they have done this wonderful. Pearl Of The Caribbean.
ReplyDeleteCaricom may have the will but tgeyvdo not have the human or military resources to deal with Haiti at this time. In addition, the Haitian people from this distance do not seem united. The USA has had several intervention in Haiti over over the years. They need to have one last one , this time for the good of the Haitian people. They owe Haiti that much. An American lead military force complimented by caricom and other forces is what is required now. The ganga in Haiti are better armed than most Caricom security force. They need afar superior force to deal wid dem case.
