I must commend the Fire Brigade Chief, Commissioner Stewart Beckford who is always very cooperative in information and educating us. The same thing applies to Mr. Audley Gordon. Both function as good servants of the people. Mr. Gordon is known to refer to himself as Chief Garbage Collector. I have received statements from Mr Gordon, Commissioner Stewart Beckford and the Chief Medical Officer Dr Jacquiline Bisasor-McKenzie. Mr Gordon also comments on the garbage left on the streets after Carnival 2024.

ReplyDeleteLet us clear the misconceptions, the Riverton site is a dump. And, there was never a fire there. It was an inferno!
ReplyDeleteThe words being used by the media and the people responsible for the gross mismanagement
...gross mismanagement and neglect is an igregeous failure by successive administrations. Riverton and it's inferno is a reflection on all of us as a society. Look at the way the residents who reside in the immediate and surrounding communities are given scant regard. Had this been upper St. Andrew (Norbrook and such) the scale of the problem would not be downplayed with words such as a mere fire and it being a disposal site when we know it's really a free-for-all dump.
DeletePerhaps a recycling program that separate plastics, paper, glass and metal from perishables would reduce the chances of fires at the Riverton dump. Plastics and paper are very flammable and will burn for days when compacted.
