Message from Paul Patmore To Residents of Wait-A-Bit
Paul Patmore |
Dear Residents of Wait-A-Bit and Surrounding Areas,
We hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out to the community to gather information and address important questions regarding the Yam House complex in Wait-A-Bit, Trelawny.
As many of you may recall, Bascoe Lee originally bought and constructed the complex for the Farmers Corp with multiple intended purposes:
- Hosting the Wait-A-Bit Post Office and other government offices.
- Providing a stage for civic functions and community events, including funeral repasts.
- Offering rental space for various functions, with proceeds meant to support community needs such as upkeep of the property, back-to-school expenses, and funeral costs for those in need.
Given the current situation, we have several pressing questions that need to be addressed for the benefit of our community:
- Who is currently collecting rent for the Yam House property?*
- How are the rental proceeds being used?*
- Is there any oversight or transparency regarding the funds collected from the rental of this property?*
- What steps can we take to ensure that the property is handed back to the community and used for its intended purposes?*
We understand that there may be confusion or a lack of information due to the absence of a current Member of Parliament. However, it is crucial that we come together as a community to ensure that the Yam House complex serves its intended purpose and benefits the residents of Wait-A-Bit and its environs.
We invite all community members to share any information or insights they may have regarding the current management and use of the Yam House property. Your input is invaluable in helping us take the necessary steps to reclaim and properly utilize this important community asset.
Please feel free to contact us with any information or suggestions you may have. Together, we can work towards a resolution that honors Bascoe Lee's original vision and supports the needs of our community.
Thank you for your attention and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Paul Patmore
MP Caretaker
South Trelawny

Good question about the yam house....questions must all so be asked about the farmers storage houses in Lowe river, lime tree and all sides....there might be others too....there is a lot one can say good and bad about Brascoe Lee but the fact remains he was a visionary....the sturdy welcome to Trelawny at Raven or line a parish to many cannot be missed. The fresh paint job is a good look but the colours better represent the funeral home sign that is to close by. The question Mr Patmore is will you remove said advertisement....beautify the area and then you advertise if you must...
