I saw a very edible and rare fruit in Kingston a year ago. The vendor says it is only grown in St. Mary. It is called mammee. I checked Wikipedia and the online site says the plant which produces this fruit is called the Mammee Apple Tree (Mammea Americana).

ReplyDeleteEggnog fruit make a lovely punch complete with cinnamon , nutmeg, creamy and chilled.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't look attractive a bit rusty not brightly coloured so the demand ans ultimately production is limited.

ReplyDeleteAs a biy growning up in Manchioneal....I have seen it...but never eaten same..It was grown at REACH district in Portland.
