Two Unusual Fruits Found in Jamaica

I saw a very edible and rare fruit in Kingston a year ago. The vendor says it is only grown in St. Mary. It is called mammee. I checked Wikipedia and the online site says the plant which produces this fruit is called the Mammee Apple Tree (Mammea Americana).

These are pictures of the fruit I bought in the plaza off Constant Spring Road in Kingston this year:

My sister gave me a drink made from another unusual fruit in Jamaica, the egg fruit. I would love to hear from the Ministry of Agriculture about these fruits. Can they be grown commercially? What is the nutritional value of these fruits? How can we make drinks from these fruits to replace those with high sugar levels?

Are you aware of these fruits? Do you have them in your parish? We are what we eat and we should use fresh natural fruits to make drinks rather than import processed drinks with high sugar content and preservatives.

What do you think? Have you come across any unusual fruits? Take some pictures of these fruits and send them to me along with your story to WhatsApp number 876 816-5261.

Eggnog fruit make a lovely punch complete with cinnamon , nutmeg, creamy and chilled.

It doesn't look attractive a bit rusty not brightly coloured so the demand ans ultimately production is limited.
It will sell if people hear that it cures cancer and high in nitric oxide.
