Tonight, I will again write about a matter dear to my heart. I have been doing for over thirty years. The following strategies are needed now:
- A well-funded national campaign drive, encouraging all law-abiding citizens to support the police force.
- This campaign should encourage people to report rogue cops.
- The Commissioner and members of the high command to participate in briefing sessions for their new people/police partnership.
- Police Officers should be given resources to assist persons in volatile areas to win their hearts and minds.
- Business people to provide funding to assist police officers in carrying out social work rather than giving funds to the dons for such purposes. Those who are guilty of paying extortion money, on conviction, should serve the maximum time in prison.
- The Commissioner and other members of the high command should respond to criticisms in an objective and impersonal manner. There is no need to take on human rights groups.
- The Commissioner should also respond publicly when persons or organizations commend the force.
- Once again, I encourage the JCF to use the Emergency Alert WhatsApp system, which allows the force to communicate information in real time to the media. With this system, the media houses can then share the information immediately. This should help to reduce the number of fake crime news stories on social media. This system could also be used to alert the public about dangerous spots on the road and also alert motorists when there are serious road accidents that will impede the movement of traffic.
Let's work together! With a little more work, effort, and unity, we can beat this crime monster.

A charge for those who pay extortion,Really now?.
ReplyDeleteIf you do not pay your life,taxi,bus,house and business are immediately at risk in many of those hard core crime Industrialized areas.
Spanish Town is famous for the One Order,Bed Bugs and Clansman gangs.
The police claim those gangs have been Tampered with or severely disrupted by the police and courts.
The thrust to eliminate Dons and gangs I hope that works and they have not been just splintered creating more little gangs all over Jamaica and particularly underpoliced rural areas.
The approach must be like all successfully revolutions whether the Taliban in Afghanistan or Cuban revolution.
They started by gaining the hearts and minds of the people in the bush then they moved to surround the city capturing the country.
Crime fighting should take similar approaches sanitize and gain trust and confidence of rural people so that criminals fear rural areas as they once did.
Things are betterer now crime has morphed into an attractive and profitable multi billion$ industry with 3 sectors the ligitimate and illigitimate sectors competing side by side for supremacy.
