Jamaican creative entrepreneur Ramona Samuels is reaffirming her commitment to protecting The Voicebox, the business, brand, and media production entity she established on September 2, 2010.
Over the past 16 years, The Voicebox has evolved from a voice-over production business into a multifaceted creative enterprise offering voice-over production, character voices, event hosting, entertainment coverage, content production, mini-documentaries, narration, commercials, jingles, DJ drops, podcast intros, voice acting, and more.
Following legal correspondence concerning the use of the Voicebox name by another party, steps have been taken to change the name being used publicly. Samuels’ legal representatives continue to oversee the matter and have sought formal confirmation that the necessary changes have been completed.
For Samuels, protecting The Voicebox means safeguarding 16 years of creativity, work, reputation, relationships, and investment.
"The Voicebox is something I built from the ground up. It carries 16 years of my work, my creativity and my reputation. Protecting that legacy is important to me—not because I don’t want other people to build, but because I believe every entrepreneur has a responsibility to protect what they have worked so hard to create.”
The business is registered under the name The Voicebox, with trademarks including Voicebox Global and The Voicebox.
As the platform currently used to showcase The Voicebox’s productions, Ramona Samuels TV via YouTube features original content focused on Jamaican music, culture, entertainment and people. Through this platform, The Voicebox presents major entertainment-event coverage, interviews, mini documentaries and immersive productions that highlight the experiences, people and businesses shaping Jamaica’s cultural landscape.
Samuels says the experience underscores the importance of protecting creative assets.
"We have to understand that our brands are assets. Our names, our creative work, our reputations, and the communities we build around those names have value. Build it. Document it. Register it. Protect it.”
