Press Release From Joan Gordon Webley PNP Caretaker for West Rural St. Andrew

The Following is a Press Release From The PNP West Rural St. Andrew - 20241103:

People’s National Party (PNP) MP Candidate for West Rural St Andrew, Joan Gordon-Webley, has expressed deep concern for residents affected by the severe road collapse in the Mount Prospect area of Brandon Hill. Heavy rains over recent days have left parts of the community marooned since Saturday, underscoring critical infrastructure vulnerabilities that urgently need to be addressed.

In addition to calling for swift action from authorities, Joan Gordon-Webley has visited the affected area to assist with immediate relief efforts. Gordon-Webley and Councillor for the Brandon Hill Division, Chrishina Richards, have initiated the restoration of affected water supply as the first step in their relief efforts. They have provided essential piping supplies to support the work being done by community volunteers.

“My heart goes out to the residents of Mount Prospect affected by this massive breakaway,” said Gordon-Webley. “The poor road conditions and blocked culverts have directly contributed to this disaster. With the potential further breakaways, we are calling on the authorities to urgently ramp up the emergency response

Gordon-Webley added that both she and the councillor are calling on the government to take a proactive approach to mitigating against incidents like these. This includes investing in a program for improved drainage systems, installing retaining walls, implementing a regular drain and culvert cleaning program, and conducting routine infrastructure assessments.

Wat A Ting Eena Jumaica!!!

 Criminal Run Tings!

Click to play

Can you imagine, a prisoner escaping from the police while being held in court! This must be a comedy show.

If we cannot keep the prisoners, then we should forget about catching them. Who will be held accountable for this incident? If a politician was responsible, then we would all be calling for the head of that politician. Ultimately, the politicians are still responsible! I have not heard of anyone resigning over this incident!

Which Bad Ooman Dis?

Mister Commissioner of Police you have to investigate this one personally. Have a look at this video Sir:

I would love to know where this incident happened. Once again, who will be held accountable?

Truck Carrying Massive Boulders

Someone sent me a video of this truck and I captured this picture from it. Can you imagine if one of the boulders had fallen off onto the road? Apparently, the driver was not prosecuted because he was not speeding. Who will be held accountable for this?

Commissioner Blake Smash Up Doll House

On another matter. I gather that the new Commissioner of Police smashed up the doll house. A police below the rank of inspector cannot order a vehicle to be detained. Which garages will have to go out of business now? That decision will certainly affect the GDP! Thanks, Commissioner Blake, you are on the right track.

These Dangerous Goal Posts

Another student has died after being hurt by a football goalpost. Once again, who will be held accountable for a life lost. We are calling for other persons to be held accountable. Is it because it is a prestigious secondary school? It also happened at a prestigious preparatory school. All we will get is more talk. What action will the parents take?

Severe Weather Alert!

Press Release From The Meteorological Service, Jamaica - 20241102:

The Meteorological Service has issued a Severe Weather Alert effective until Monday, November 04, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

There is a broad area of disturbed weather currently across the southwestern Caribbean Sea just north of Panama. This area of Low Pressure is expected to gradually develop and move northward then north-westward over the next 24 to 36 hours.

The system has a high probability of becoming a Tropical Cyclone and based on current projections, it is increasingly likely that a Tropical Depression or Tropical Storm could develop south of Jamaica by Monday morning, before moving just east then north of Jamaica by Tuesday.

Regardless of the stage of development, the area of Low Pressure is expected to bring unstable weather to Jamaica beginning Sunday night through to Wednesday evening. Consequently, the forecast is for cloudy conditions with periods of showers and thunderstorms, which may be heavy at times, with strong gusty winds to affect sections of most parishes, especially eastern and south-central parishes during this period.

Fishers on the cays and banks are urged to commence preparations and be on the alert to evacuate, should it become necessary. The Meteorological Service will continue to closely monitor this system.

Di Potholes and Sink Holes Tan Bad!

Dyke Road in St. Catherine

I continue to get complaints about the maintenance of our road network daily. Let me make it clear, I have no intention of blaming one set of politicians. I will say, however, that things started to deteriorate when we abandoned prudent fiscal policies and also monetary policies. The type of policies which many of us do not understand but when when we feel the effects of such bad policies it is deadly. We have seen our dollar depreciate daily, we have seen the deterioration of the services provided by the state, and we have seen opportunities for making this country great evaporation into thin air.

I received the following message from a motorist:

Good morning, Vernon

Advising that there are 3  deep potholes on the Dyke Road in the vicinity of the train line crossing (east side). Traffic travels at 80 km/h and of course faster.

I have seen and heard of vehicles on the side of the road with double blowouts.

A dangerous situation.

I just received this message about the same potholes. Click on the icon below:

Mr E G Hunter please, we cannot continue to go on like this. We are tired of the excuses from Mr Stephen Shaw, and many no longer believe what he says. Min. Vaz, Mr Prime Minister, these are the things the people are upset about. It cost motorists plenty money and the commuter ends up paying more for transportation.

Somebody must care! Motorists have major challenges with these potholes. We should go back to the days when we had the PWD (Public Works Department) and persons were responsible for a certain length of the road. The centralized system of maintaining our roads using the NWA is not working. It is more cost-effective to maintain our roads rather than waiting until we have sinkholes to fix them for millions of dollars.

The long-term plan is to ensure that we have proper drainage and streets do not become rivers whenever it rains, and repair potholes properly when they start developing. If nothing is done then people will continue to believe that the maintenance of our roads is part of the 'Eat a Food Mentality' helping to ensure that our country remains in an impoverished state.

Please send your pictures of these potholes from across the country. State the constituency they are in, and the name of the area, by WhatsApp at 876 816-5261.

Note:

This blog will be sent to Mr E G Hunter at NWA and our political leaders.

The People's Incentive Act 2024?

Contributed

There is a dispute going on at Royalton Hotel in Jamaica. The Jamaican people must know that we make sacrifices for these hotels and we make very little.

The Jamaican people must know that under the Hotel Incentives Act these properties pay NO DIRECT TAXES, NO DUTIES ON IMPORTS FOR 10-15 YEARS AND THAT IS RENEWABLE ON REFURBISHING. ONLY THE SLAVES/Workers ON THESE HOTEL PLANTATIONS or PAY INCOME TAX.

The least these hotel beneficiaries of Jamaica's free ride to prosperity is pay a fair decent wage and due respect.

If foreign businesses can get a facility of no taxes. This should be done for all the people of Jamaica and local businesses.

I am for the abolition of direct income taxes for all in Jamaica as a People's Incentives Act 2024.

Andrew wants to win the next election and even if he doesn't he has nothing to lose. If he does that he has my vote immediately.

Can you imagine an indirect salary increase for every teacher, nurse, hotel worker, police, soldier, talk show host, small business and large locally owned at large.

More money available for investments, and consumption would drive the economy. Taxes lost are collected by the most efficient GCT.

Marky G can promise it at least if Andrew does not do it first.

That Peoples Incentives Act 2024 would be the πŸ‘Œ gift for the Jamaican people locally and in the diaspora.
