Ms Simone Pratt a Teacher at Belmont Academy in Westmoreland Has Died

Simone Pratt

Ms Simone Pratt a math teacher at the Belmont Academy in Bluefields, Westmoreland, suddenly became ill and was admitted to the hospital. She died shortly after being admitted.

The following is a tribute to Simone Pratt from Keith Wedderburn JP:

As the Manager of Western Express Transportation Services, it is with a heavy heart that I pay tribute to Ms. Simone Pratt, a remarkable teacher and a cherished member of our community.

I first had the honour of meeting her many years ago when we worked together at Mearnsville Primary School in Bluefields on school related community projects. From that moment, her passion for education, her kindness, and her commitment to the students she served were evident. Later, when she joined Belmont Academy (which started in 2009), our professional relationship flourished into one of deep respect and admiration.

Ms. Pratt was not just a teacher; she was an embodiment of our transportation service’s motto: " **Going Above and Beyond*" She exemplified this every day. Whether it was during school hours, late at night, on weekends, or even during holidays, she was always there—ready to offer her positive and insightful contributions to the Western Express WhatsApp groups. She stood tall among the school administrators, and what made her truly unique was her willingness to join and engage with the broader Western Express social group, where she interacted with all members, always providing encouragement and guidance.

Her dedication was not limited to her students. Ms. Pratt's service extended far beyond the classroom. She touched countless lives in the community, offering her time, her wisdom, and her unwavering support to those who needed it most.

Ms. Pratt will be remembered for her kindness, her tireless work ethic, and the profound impact she made on so many lives. Her legacy will live on through the students she taught and the people she inspired.

Rest in peace, Ms. Pratt. Your contributions will not be forgotten, and you will be deeply missed by all of us.

Keith R Wedderburn, JP.

Ms Pratt 2nd left, with colleagues.

International Performer Roy Rayon's Facebook Account Hacked!!

Message From Roy Rayon About Hacked Account and Someone Scammed

Hi Vernon

Approximately three weeks ago my Facebook account was hacked. The imposter used an Instagram account that was not linked to my account to post things that breached FB guidelines. Facebook locked down my account.

After many efforts to get through to Facebook proved futile, I created another account. I had other accounts but the one that got lockdown was the main/administrative page.

This afternoon a taxi came to my gate and the driver was making inquiries about one of the other accounts which is my record label and also of a restaurant we are doing teasers for. He was looking for an Airbnb

What he did was to ask for the gate # and the parish code so I sent him to another address. It was after that I realized that he was at the right address with the Passenger. It's obvious that that person got scammed as no Airbnb at my address.

They used my information - country, Bwoy Kitchens and scammed an innocent one.

MP Robert Miller Seeks Help From JPS to Deal With Frequent Power Outages

Press Release From Robert Miller MP for South East St. Catherine - 20241004

Member of Parliament for South East St. Catherine, the  Jamaica Labour Party's Robert Miller, is calling on the Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSCo) to immediately address apparent system glitches or technical difficulties which are causing frequent interruptions in the supply of electricity in his constituency and other communities in Portmore.

"Since Tuesday afternoon I have been overwhelmed by calls and messages from concerned and agitated constituents across South East St. Catherine due to the frequent power interruptions in quick succession. My constituents are alarmed and agitated at this time as they are mindful of fire and other electricity-related safety hazards any systemic glitch or technical malfunction may present. My constituents and stakeholders are also concerned about their domestic appliances and commercial equipment which are susceptible to considerable damage as a result of the frequent back-to-back service interruptions and overall instability in electricity surges", Mr. Miller stated.

MP Miller says while there is a provision in place to provide redress to any aggrieved JPS customer, he considers prevention to be better than redress as grievance and complaints procedures often come at considerable inconvenience to customers, who may have to contend with lengthy delays in getting compensation in the event of JPS-occasioned losses.

The South East St. Catherine MP is also renewing calls for the JPSCo to reopen its Portmore office as a means of greater convenience and more accessible service delivery to his constituents and other stakeholders across Portmore.

Residents Appreciate Refurbished Post Office

Residents are proud of their Postal Agency at Kintyre in St. Andrew. The pensioners and others who use this postal agency are smiling these days.

JPS Needs To Fix This Pole

The video above was taken at the corner of 20 Verene Avenue, Kingston 10, which is off Cassia Park Avenue.

Notice that the bottom of this pole is deteriorating and should be changed immediately. The spider web of wires emanating from this pole dazzles the eyes. This site reflects the situation across the island. One can just imagine the number of houses and vehicles residents would lose if the pole came tumbling down and pulling down the maze of wires from the various homes. This is a disaster waiting to happen.

Ministry of Education to Increase Contact Hours for Teaching Mathematics?

Does the Education Ministry officials believe that students will improve their performance in mathematics if they have more contact time with teachers? That alone will not work. We need to teach mathematics creatively, allowing youngsters to have fun. They need to fall in love with the subject.

Let them learn how to read their utility metres and estimate their bills. Their parents will love them for that and both parents and children will understand the importance of the subject. Let them have fun creating their businesses and working out their mark-ups so they can make a profit. Take them to the market and let them learn how to weigh things and calculate the prices.

Let them measure their classrooms and draw the floor plan. Let them work out the floor space. Boys for example learn better when they have activities to do. We hate sitting in a classroom setting for longer hours. We could end up turning off more of the youngsters.

Other Matters

Unconfirmed report of shootings in Cassava Piece. Two dead and four are injured by drive-by shooting. There is a strong presence of soldiers and police in the area now.

Joan Gordon-Webley MP Candidate for West Rural St. Andrew Talks About Poor Garbage Collection

Press Release from PNP West Rural St. Andrew - 20241009

Joan Gordon-Webley, MP Candidate - West rural St. Andrew

Joan Gordon-Webley, MP Candidate for West Rural St. Andrew, is calling on the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA), the Government agency whose mission is to:

“Provide(s) solid waste management services in order to safeguard public health, while helping to create an environment that is healthy and aesthetically pleasing for both residents and visitors to enjoy.”

to address the increasingly unacceptable state of garbage collection in the constituency. Residents of the Golden Spring community in Stony Hill have expressed growing frustration over the deteriorating and unhealthy conditions caused by inconsistent garbage collection. Gordon-Webley has noted the overflowing bins and scattered waste which pose significant health risks to the community.

“The residents of Golden Spring deserve better. The deplorable state of garbage collection is not just an eyesore; it threatens the health and safety of our families,” said Gordon-Webley. “We cannot continue to turn a blind eye to these issues. I am urging the Government and the NSWMA to take immediate action to restore proper garbage collection services in West Rural St. Andrew.”

Gordon-Webley emphasized that effective waste management is essential for the well-being of constituents and the environment. She plans to advocate for more resources and better management practices to ensure that garbage collection is regular and efficient across West Rural St. Andrew.

“I have been reliably informed that this pile up of garbage inside and around the Golden Spring Primary School compound has accumulated over the last three weeks. This is hazardous to the students and staff as it exposes them to various outbreaks and diseases.”

Gordon-Webley is committed to fighting for the residents of West Rural St. Andrew and ensuring that their voices are heard and that they receive the representation they deserve. “It’s time for action. This is simply not good enough.”

Archdeacon Cunningham Holding His Tongue - His Homily at Norma Creary's Funeral Blowing Up Social Media!

Archdeacon Cunningham
Archdeacon Cunningham has held his tongue since his controversial speech at Mrs Norma Creary's funeral service last weekend. Other people who attended the funeral service found the Archdeacon's utterances disturbing.

I have spoken to the Archdeacon twice and sent him messages. He has not released a statement about this matter responding to the family. It would help if the Anglican Church and the Council of Churches comment on this matter.

Today I received another video from someone who attended the service.

I have listened to parts of Archdeacon Cunningham's speech in various social media posts and I must admit it is an unusual speech for a funeral service. Let us continue to wait to hear from Archdeacon Cunningham, the Anglican Church and the Council of Churches.

Archdeacon's Sermon at Funeral Sparks Major Controversy

The sermon of Archdeacon Cunningham is creating waves on social media. Persons on one side have no problem with what was said and others feel that the pastor was throwing wud for specific politicians. I made contact with Archdeacon Cunningham, Monday Morning, October 8, 2023. I again made contact in the afternoon on the same day. I continue to wait on his response to the comments made by the Creary family.

Interesting days are ahead!

Citizens Question Background of Political Leaders

Isat Buchanan
Citizens have been speaking out about one party endorsing someone with a criminal background to run for political office. We have also seen a press release from one party condemning the other for this poor choice. Tonight I received information that another sitting councillor has had criminal convictions. I have not received the details of those convictions as yet. This is indeed interesting.

It is clear that voters should demand to know more about the persons who are seeking to lead us. On the table now is Isat Buchanan. Are more in the closet like the dual citizenship ones?

Is Your Resumes All Over The Internet?

Many of us no longer need to prepare a resume because our resumes are all over the internet. When persons are not willing to employ you or you are unable to get that visa, then think about all the disgusting information  you have posted on the Internet. Some of us do not love ourselves. We are our worst enemies. When we post certain things on the Internet we are also setting up ourselves to become target of political violence. The video below is now being circulated is an example:

I looked at this video again and something hits me. We claim to be a homophobic society yet quite a number of curse words and derogative things we tell others relate to women. Do we really love women and do the women love themselves. Find out what use to be called a pussy claat. Why tell someone that they come een like pussy hole. That's where you come from. We also tell them to suck pussy.

This same video shows flooding in Clarendon. Flooding occurs in this area whenever there is a heavy downpour of rain. We seem to build roads where we will have a river course when it rains.
