Questions For The INSPORTS Board Chairman

Ian Forbes

Chairman Ian Forbes at Insports, are you aware of the challenges at INSPORTS? There seems to be a relationship challenge between the head of Insports and staff members.

The impression I am getting from those who work with the head is that she does not allow staff to use their creativity and flexibility to do their jobs. She is seen as autocratic and self-centered, and she also micromanages the organization.

Who does the travelling for the organization? I understand that the staff used to do the travelling and get paid for this activity. The staff no longer does this activity. Is travelling contracted out to a company or to individuals?

What are some of the achievements of the present head since she was first appointed in 2016? Why has she not been permanently appointed to the post?

Taking on persons on contract is done in many instances to get around the Redundancy and the Termination of Employment Acts.

Please look into this matter before it becomes an industrial issue and productivity starts to decline. You also occupy the position of Custos, so if you chair a board, then it is expected that this organization should be an example to the nation.

The following are the core functions of INSPORT:

  • Facilitate coordinated development of sports from the grassroots (community level through to national level)
  • Promote the use of sport as a tool of social transformation, instilling discipline and values, unite communities, build/foster better relationships and generate economic activity
  • Ensure the availability of adequate training programmes, courses and facilities for the development of personnel at all levels in all areas of sport
  • Coordinate, when necessary, the activities of all agencies in the island engaged in sport development for national good

Finally, Sir, to what extent are these functions being effectively performed in the interest of the people?

Editor's Note
There is more information that I received, which I have not added to the post, since it could be very damaging. Some matters have to be proven. It is just a matter of time.

Medical Staff At Mandeville Hospital Saves Man's Leg

Press Release From The Mandeville Regional Hospital - June 23, 2026

(Left to Right) Dr. Denzel Clarke, Medical Officer at the MRH; Dr. Varunesh Chand, MRH Consultant General Surgeon; patient, Mr. Edwin Rowe; Dr. Sanneta Myrie, Surgery Resident former Miss Jamaica World 2015, and Dr. Joel Sugrim, MRH Medical Officer share a photo opportunity. Mr. Rowe is seen ambulating with the aid of crutches and a prosthesis one week after surgery

The Mandeville Regional Hospital (MRH) in Manchester recently successfully performed a complex bypass procedure that saved a patient’s only remaining lower limb from amputation.

Dr. Varunesh Chand, Consultant General Surgeon at the MRH, explained that 72 year-old, Edwin Rowe was admitted to the hospital in April 2026 with chronic limb threatening ischemia, manifesting as gangrene to his fourth toe. This is a condition where the tissue dies due to inadequate blood supply.

His right leg was at elevated risk for amputation due to peripheral arterial disease with severely reduced blood flow to the leg, brought on by long term diabetes, hypertension and a past history of smoking.

“Four years earlier, Mr. Rowe underwent a left below-knee amputation due to infectious complications related to diabetes. Despite this setback, he remained functional and independent. With his right leg now solely responsible for mobility and balance, it was considered his ‘precious limb,’ and its loss would result in permanent wheelchair dependence” Dr. Chand added.

“Once admitted a CT scan revealed severe arterial blockages involving the main artery in the thigh and continuing into the major arteries of the lower leg and foot. Only a small segment of a healthy artery below the ankle remained usable for bypass surgery. Endovascular stenting was not an option for him” the general surgeon pointed out.

The surgical team proceeded with an inframalleolar bypass, a specialized procedure used to redirect blood flow to the foot by bypassing severely blocked arteries. To restore circulation to the foot, a portion of the patient’s saphenous vein was harvested and then used as a bypass graft.

Post-operative scans showed more than a 50 percent improvement in blood flow to the foot and Mr. Rowe made a smooth recovery and was later discharged.

With blood flow restored, the immediate threat of losing the limb was removed, giving Mr. Rowe the opportunity to maintain his mobility, independence, and quality of life.

The successful procedure was performed on May 20, 2026.

Editor's Note

This is a great story, and we need to tell more of these stories. Most times we get news about the health sector, it is negative. I would love to talk to one of the doctors and the patient.

Thanks to the staff of the hospital and please continue to let your light shine.

What's Happening - June 21, 2026

 Appointment

Congratulations to Micro Labs!

Click the icon below to listen to a customer say good things about Microlabs.

If you give good customer service or bad customer service, your business could be on Bark Di Trute news for the world to listen to.

One major retail outlet had to close its business when a foreign retail outlet landed in Portmore. If the customer service is not improved at the business in Kingston, then the foreign entity on Red Hills Road could put that location out of business, too.

Some State Officials Have No Class

Some leaders of state have no class, and they need to set up a stall somewhere for themselves and do business. Give up your state positions and do something else.

We have also seen the parliament of the land being transformed into a fish market. Many Jamaicans are not happy about this, and the guilty MPs could be putting the final nail into their party's coffin - Mark my word.

Are Some People Getting Paranoid? Social media seems to be playing a major role in confusing people and causing them to get paranoid.

Prior to the US ship visiting Jamaica recently, a few Jamaicans became hysterical about the ship's arrival. You would believe that judgment was at hand. The ship has visited and departed.

Years ago, the UK made an offer to build a prison in Jamaica, and they would send a batch of deportees to be housed at that prison. What happened to that? The US wants to negotiate a similar agreement with us, and some people have become hysterical about this matter. Some are claiming that these deportees are criminals and that they will be let loose on the island. Well, we have enough criminals here already, and we tolerate them.

We are a poor country, and nothing is wrong with other countries sending people to spend time in a detention centre in Jamaica. We could earn some bucks from this activity. We could call it the Detention Tourism Programme. I believe I got that term from Michael Spence, one of our writers.

It must be cheaper to maintain these people in a country like Jamaica rather than letting them stay in the US.

Washington Boulevard Bushing

Citizens are complaining that the bushing of the sidewalks on Washington Boulevard is not being done properly. I notice that they have left some massive tree stumps on the median.

JPSCo Was On The Ball Today

The areas that were without electricity surrounding Perkins Boulevard can now sigh a sigh of relief. Electricity is back. That was quick, JPSCo.

It would be interesting to hear about that accident. It seems like a major accident if a JPSCo pole were shifted or hit down. I hope no one lost their lives. I cannot understand how one can have an accident on that road. Probably a driver fell asleep.

This message just came in from Spanish Town:

There is no electricity in Cromarty Grove Spanish Town since about 11 am this morning and it is still out now
