Press Release From The Ministry of Health and Wellness - 2024/06/10

Health & Wellness Minister, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton, MP has ordered a high-level probe into the incident involving a patient who was admitted to the Falmouth Hospital and who subsequently died.

The investigation will be conducted through the Office of the Chief Medical Officer in conjunction with the Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA) and follows complaints on social media from family members. A technical team from the Ministry has been dispatched to the facility to initiate the investigation.

Members of the public are reminded that the Ministry of Health & Wellness has in place a Complaints Management System, which allows users of our healthcare facilities to report any concerns that they may have. The Complaints Management System is accessible at the level of each public healthcare facility or alternately online at the Ministry’s website, www.moh.gov.jm.

In the meantime, the Regional Health Authority has contacted the family and will provide counseling as needed.

  2. Too late. The service at these health facilities are very poor. My sister died last year May due to lack of care including bed at KPH.

  4. I listened the daughter elsewhere and it b was unbelievably callous.
I started to believe that some relevant information was missing, was it.
The Minister could do no better but to order an investigation and chips fall where they may.
Sad,sad, sad as no investigation can bring back a life but results could aid the saving of some lives.

  5. A DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT!! The staff in these public hospital are the most coldhearted individuales you could every hope NOT to encolunter! I stood beside my moms( 96 Y.O.) bedside in 2020 for 7 HOURS at UWI waiting to have her head stitched, while nurses flitted around in their blue pantalla suits like ballarinas. WHEN I asked for a chair i was told no chair available!
Shine the spotlight tn Victoria Jubilee. Ancilliary workers rude as hell. Incompetwnt and uncaring nurses, many of who seem unable to insert an IV needle without 4 or 5 jabs, causing much pain to the patient. And if you had a C section, cant walk, and had to do a #2 in your diaper, you get no end of grumbling and cussing from the woman who has to clean you! My grand- daughter went through the horror of knowing 2 women died on the same day..one definitely theough lack of attention, because her repeated call for "nurse, nurse!" want unanswered. Eventually WHEN someone want to see "how she get so quiet" The woman AND baby were dead! Thats WHEN they sprabg into action!

HOSPITAL MUST Fire dem backside if dem cyaan do the work wid compassion!!
My grand-daughter vows not to have more children because she stared death in the face at VJH.
Hats office to the staff at the Tony Thwaites Wing. What a difference in attitude
