The temperature has been rising in Clarendon Municipal Corporation since Tanyalee Williams crossed the floor in the parish municipality. She previously represented the JLP in the May Pen North Division.
The switch shifted the balance of power in the 22-member Clarendon Municipal Corporation to 12 seats for the PNP and 10 seats for the JLP. PNP council members attempted to have a special meeting so that a PNP councillor could lead the council.

The top PNP councillor for the chairmanship of the council is Sean Barnswell. Before the meeting was convened to change the leadership of the council, the JLP got a court injunction to prevent this special meeting from being called to change the leadership of the council.
Bark Di Trute had pointed out that it was not fair for the people to vote for a councillor representing a party and for the representative to change his/her party affiliation while the electors of the party did not have a say in this. Bark Di Trute contended that this was undemocratic.
JLP members in the division are claiming that a representative cannot change party affiliation. The honest thing for the representative to do should be to resign. The situation could have a national impact since the JLP are not willing to have one representative change party affiliation, which ends up in another party controlling the council. This could happen for the central government also.
Bark Di Trute has been unable to make contact with MP Delroy Williams to update us on this matter. One thing is clear, and that is that it does not seem that Councillor Tanyalee Williams enjoys the support of the JLP supporters who helped her to win the seat in the council.
One thing is clear, and that is that the political climate in the Clarendon parish could become a hot one. There is also talk of demonstrations calling on Tanylee to resign. Interesting days are ahead.
