Gospel JA FM, Rebuilding Lives In Trelawny

On May 13, 2026, the community of Duncans in Trelawny and surrounding districts experienced the true meaning of “Faith in Action” as the Gospel JA Foundation hosted its Rebuilding Lives in Trelawny — One Family at a Time outreach mission at Duncan Tabernacle Church.

As part of Gospel JA’s 14th anniversary celebration, the station and its partners came together to support families still recovering and rebuilding after difficult times. From early morning, scores of residents gathered at the church where they received clothing, shoes, food supplies, and essential care packages distributed with love and dignity.

The atmosphere inside the church was filled with gratitude and hope as mothers searched for clothing for their children, elderly residents received support, and families left encouraged, knowing that their community had not forgotten them. The outreach reminded everyone that ministry goes beyond words — it is about restoring hope, dignity, and comfort.

This mission was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, donors, volunteers, and compassionate community members who answered the call to help rebuild lives in Trelawny. Special thanks to our valued partners and sponsors, including Gospel JA  FM, 91.7 & 91.9 FM, Budget, DayTwenty6ixx, Noon Day Word, Heart of Worship Endtime International Ministries, Aspen Luxury Suites, Torpedo Loan Mart, Debt Recovery Management Solutions. Loans Mart Financing, and all individuals and organizations who contributed food items, clothing, building materials, transportation, and financial support.

We also extend heartfelt appreciation to the wonderful people of Duncans  Tabernacle Church and surrounding communities for coming out, supporting one another, and embracing the spirit of unity and love that defined today’s outreach. Your resilience, gratitude, and togetherness were truly inspiring.

Gospel JA remains committed to serving communities across Jamaica and proving that love is more than words — love is action.

Together, we are restoring hope, dignity, and comfort—one family at a time.

Mining In The Cockpit Country???

Montague Calls for Transparency in The Cockpit Country Mining Issue
Senator Robert Montague, Shadow Minister on Mining and Energy, says that he is calling for full disclosure on issues surrounding the cockpit country mining issue.

JLP Shadow Minister Montague is expressing concern with regards to allegations of mining in the protected Cockpit Country Area.
Senator Montague stated “The response of the Government so far is weak and inconclusive. These allegations have revealed that there are major issues in mining to be resolved.”

In release today the Senator says that the issues at hand are:
·         The Cockpit Country is a protected area,
·         It is where 40% of Jamaica’s water comes from,
·         It is home to many protected species of plants and animals.
Government Promise Broken?
He went on to say that the government had given a firm undertaking not to allow mining in the area. He also said that the government must accept the traditional boundaries of the Cockpit Country and take all necessary steps to prevent mining and associated activities.

Senator Montaque says that:
  • He is calling on the government, to make public any agreement, permit or licenses it has with Noranda Jamaica Bauxite Partnership (NJBP), with regards to permission for mining.
  • The Opposition also want NEPA and the Mining and Geology department to have a permanent monitoring presence in this sensitive and protected area.

Jamaican Police Gave Police Car To Her Bad Man Friend To Drive???

It was confirmed to me by the police that on June 12, 2012 a service vehicle was in the possession of a Corporal from the Christiana Police Station. This is in the parish of Manchester. On the same day (June 12, 2012) the vehicle was allegedly driven by one Leroy Pottinger a mechanic from Litchfield District in Trelawny.

Pottinger became a suspect in the murder of a farmer in the Lime Tree area committed August 1, 2012.  Lime Tree is in the parish of Trelawny. Pottinger was set upon by a mob and chopped to death on September 2, 2012.

I was told that the corporal had been suspended from driving service vehicles and was currently on suspension but I subsequently learned that the officer was not suspended.

Although I have repeatedly asked for an update on this matter, I am yet to get any further information. I assume therefore that the corporal is still in the police force and might soon be the next Commissioner of Police!
