The Final Political Meetings

A sea of red.

A sea of green.

Both political parties had a significant number of people watching online. The rallies were broadcast on CVM, TVJ, and other media outlets. The following screen captures were done at 2222 EST.

Based on feedback from persons, the PNP crowd was not impressive, but the JLP had a packed Spanish Town Square. We must understand that the feedback will depend on a person's political perspective, and therefore, if you were at the meetings, I would like to hear from you.

I predict that the turnout on general election day on Wednesday, September 3, will exceed that of previous years.

The Don Anderson Poll and the Blue Dot polls are poles apart as far as the standings of the political parties are concerned. Don Anderson is showing the PNP way ahead, while the Blue Dot Pole is showing the JLP way ahead of the PNP. Is it that the Andrew Holness pull has increased its momentum in the pass few days?

I would suggest that our pollsters take polls by telephone. There might be drawbacks. I feel that we can get real time and more accurate responses from persons being polled by phone.

We Should Publish The Candidates' Names for The Constituencies For The 2025 National Elections

I cannot find the published list of candidates for the 2025 general elections. The Electoral Office must have a list somewhere, and it should not be confidential. This information should be published in the newspapers and be available online.

People are unaware of some candidates, especially those representing the newer parties.

Letting the people know who they can vote for is a very important part of the democratic process.

Born Ya No Means Say Yu A Jumaican?

I got the picture shown above from someone who found it funny because it is really a commentary on the election debate between PM Holness and Opposition Leader Mark Golding. I tried to explain to my friend that while in theory someone who was born in Jamaica is a Jamaican, this is not always the case.

If you are born in Jamaica and you have never been registered with the RGD, you could have a problem returning to the island. Why? You do not have anything to show that you are Jamaican. Imagine that you got a bandoolu birth certificate and migrated to the US. This means that your birth was not registered in Jamaica, so you cannot enter the country as a Jamaican.

You can be born and registered as a Jamaican and become a citizen of another country and then renounce your Jamaican citizenship. Some countries do not allow dual citizenship.

You have those who are born here and registered here as citizens, and they terrorize the rest of us daily. These are not real Jamaicans at heart, and I don't regard them as Jamaicans. This is one set I wish I could take the citizenship away from them and lock them away permanently.

I would love to hear from the lawyers who read this article. Please add your comments below.

JTA Industrial Action Postponed

Press Release From The JTA, August 28, 2025

Mark Malabver, JTA President

The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) today, Friday, August 29, 2025, convened a meeting of its Action Committee, in keeping with the mandate given by the Annual Conference.

At this meeting, it was confirmed that the Government of Jamaica has submitted a new offer to the Association.

In light of this development, President Mark Malabver asked the Action Committee to place a pause on any industrial action it was contemplating at this time. This pause he said is intended to allow the offer to be tabled before the JTA’s Salaries and Conditions of Service Committee, where it will be carefully examined and deliberated upon. Following this process, a formal response will be submitted to the Ministry of Finance.

The JTA wishes to emphasize, however, that this pause does not signal satisfaction. Rather, it represents the organisation’s ongoing commitment to a process of principled and constructive engagement, as we continue to advocate for fair and just treatment for Jamaica’s teachers.

“We look forward to continuing the negotiations in good faith with  Government, with one clear and unwavering objective: to secure a salary package that reflects the true worth of our teachers as nation builders, and that acknowledges the sacrifice teachers make daily in shaping the future of Jamaica”.

“The teachers of this country can rest assured that the JTA remains resolute in its mission. We will continue to stand firmly on your behalf, negotiating with strength, unity, and vision. Together, we remain committed to our motto—to Unite and Serve.

Editor's Note

The release said a pause was put on the industrial action. This gives the impression that the teachers were taking industrial action at this time, and they have now put a hold on the action. I need clarification on this matter.

Who Will Win General Elections 2025?

My prediction for the next general election is that it will be an upset. It is unusual that a party such as the PNP, which was moving ahead, might lose the next election. The PNP was moving ahead in the Don Anderson poll, and my feedback from across the island reflected this. Andrew Holness has gone on the road campaigning, and his impact has been phenomenal.

There is a lot that both parties have to learn from this. I predict that the JLP will win, but the JLP should bear in mind that last year, the JLP was not looking good. The PNP also has to review how it operates going forward. The strategy of targeting the leader will not always work.

The PNP has targeted the JLP leader as corrupt, but the Daryl Vaz bad mind campaign has nullified that. Some people have expressed the view to me that people 'bad mind 'gainst Andrew because Andrew came fram a poor family'.

The 28 bank accounts that Andrew was touted to have have now faded into obscurity. This is now seen as a false narrative. Andrew made a point during his debate last night that has not been handled effectively by his PR people. The idea has been sold that he was found guilty by the Integrity Commission (IC) and he is being investigated for illicit enrichment. The point was made at the debate last night that he is no longer being investigated by the IC because the IC has already sent in its report.

At this point I believe that the JLP will win the next election on September 3, 2025, but dem must tek sleep mark death. My belief is based on the polls, feedback I get from persons across the island, and the way how children and even PNP supporters respond to PM Holness.

What do you think? Add your comments at the bottom.

Breaking News - Bomb Threats

I am getting reports from persons that there have been reports of bomb threats at various government offices. I have not received any official reports from the authorities.

Once again, I remind the authorities to utilize the Emergency Alert System set up for media personnel to receive information as soon as possible. This will reduce the impact of incorrect information being distributed on social media.

If you have information about these threats and if your office has been impacted, please WhatsApp me at (876) 816-5261.
